Attendance Policy
PLA Virtual scholars are required to attend each of the 180 instructional days as indicated on the official school calendar. If a scholar is unable to attend a scheduled instructional day, the Parent or Guardian must report the absence by calling the school’s attendance line within 24 hours and providing the reason for the absence.
Required Instructional Hours
PLA Virtual adheres to the state-mandated 180-day instructional calendar. The academic calendar is published each spring prior to the start of the school year and is available on the PLA Virtual website as well as in the Scholar’s Handbook.
In compliance with Indiana law, scholars in grades K–6 must complete a minimum of five (5) hours of instructional time per day, while scholars in grades 7–12 must complete at least six (6) hours per day to fulfill state attendance requirements.
Instructional hours are fulfilled through a combination of participation in live classroom sessions, completion of online coursework via Blackboard, engagement in teacher-approved offline enrichment activities, and attendance in state-mandated assessments.
